Vans Authentic Orange-White Checkerboard

The Vans Authentic is the original Vans silhouette, first produced in 1966 at the Van Doren Rubber Company in Anaheim, California. Conceived as a flat-soled canvas deck shoe built for durability and board feel, the Authentic became the foundational silhouette of skateboarding culture and remains in continuous production today — a design that has never needed revision because it was right from the beginning.

The Checkerboard is Vans’ most iconic surface. Originating in the late 1970s when Southern California skaters began hand-drawing the pattern directly onto their Vans, it was adopted by the brand and elevated into one of the defining graphic motifs of sneaker and streetwear culture worldwide. On the Authentic, the checkerboard is woven into the canvas itself, giving the pattern structural depth and durability rather than the flatness of a surface print.

The Orange-White colourway brings a distinct warmth and intensity to the checkerboard format.
