The Vans Authentic is the original Vans silhouette, introduced in 1966 at the Van Doren Rubber Company in Anaheim, California. Built for skateboarding with a flat vulcanised sole and low-profile canvas upper, the Authentic has remained in continuous production without structural change — its longevity a direct result of how precisely the original design served its purpose.

The Red-White Checkerboard colourway is one of the most recognisable patterns in sneaker history. The checkerboard print entered mainstream consciousness in 1982 when Sean Penn wore a black-and-white Vans slip-on in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The red-and-white variant applies the same graphic logic to a warmer palette — the high-contrast pattern reads as immediately Vans, while the red ground gives it a bolder, more energetic character than the classic black version.
